Opening Theme - Right from the start you can sense there's something really special about the Final Fantasy VI OST; The Opening Theme really sets the stage for the adventures yet to come. The track starts off slow and menacing, then transcends into the main theme (yes, I think Tina is the main theme). Uematsu pulls this off tremendously.
5/5
2
The Mines Of Narshe - Like Balamb Garden in Final Fantasy VIII, 'The Mines of Narshe' is excellent at first but can become annoying after a while.
4/5
3
Awakening - A rendition of the main theme of Tina - you can hear a lot more melodies and even more emotions with Awakening, which makes this tracks stand out more.
4/5
4
Locke - The main theme for the character Locke Cole is one of my favourites in this soundtrack. Filled with adventurous overtones and excitement, this is the perfect song for Locke.
5/5
5
Battle Theme - With an excellent battle theme for Final Fantasy IV, the Battle Theme in Final Fantasy VI is a disappointment. And with the other battle themes in the series, it can get very monotonous after 50 battles in a row.
2/5
6
Fanfare - Keeping with tradition, the fanfare is back for Final Fantasy VI. Not much different then the previous versions, but overall it does its purpose well.
2/5
7
Edgar And Mash - Edgar and Mash is not only the themes for Edgar and Mash (Sabin in the American version), it's also the theme of Figaro Castle. It suits the characters and the castle perfectly.
5/5
8
Kefka - A true classic! This is the theme for the main villain in Final Fantasy VI, Kefka. Like the previous character themes, it perfectly describes the emotions and personality of the character. Kefka is a very catchy tune, but it is also disturbing at the same time... great stuff.
5/5
9
Mt. Coltz - For some reason I have always liked this track: It isn't played much in the game, which is good because it can get boring after a while, in my opinion. But it is a great piece of action music.
4/5
10
Returners - This track doesn't really offer much, but it does fit the scene right. It's a good 'lets think up a plan to get the bad guy' song, though.
1.5/5
11
Shadow - The main theme of, yup you guessed it, Shadow. Shadow is a favourite character of many people; I personally didn't use him much, but his theme is nice. Reminds me of some old western flick.
3.5/5
12
Troops March On - I'm not too fond of this song. Some of you may like it, but I find it monotonous and boring.
1/5
13
Cyan - Wow wow wow!!! Out of all the many character themes in Final Fantasy VI, Cyan's has to be my favourite! To tell you the truth, besides Cid's theme in Final Fantasy VII, Cyan's is probably the best character theme of all time!
5/5
14
The Unforgiven - Your average action song. Not that bad, but also nothing special.
2/5
15
The Mystic Forest - I LOVE this track! I find most tracks having to do something with 'forests' or 'woods' are quite good. The Phantom Forest is no exception.
5/5
16
Mystery Train - An interesting track to say the least. Starts with a nice piano arrangement and then builds up gradually.
3.5/5
17
Wild West - Heh, a nice track. Not the most memorable of songs in the OST, but again... it's interesting.
3.5/5
18
Gau - Even though I hated the character, Gau has a very beautiful theme. And after listening to it again right now, I think I might give him another chance the next time I play Final Fantasy VI.
5/5
19
The Snake Path - Out of all the action orientated songs in the OST, The Serpents Trench is good change of pace. It's more mysterious then the others, but it still contains the action feel to it.
5/5
20
Kids Run Through The City Corner - A perfect song for a town, although it can get old after awhile. As far as town themes go, this one is a winner.
4/5
21
Under Martial Law - Great. It really gives you a sense of something going on. Not good for repeat listenings, but overall nice.
4/5
22
Celes - Sort of starts off the way Awakening does, but then turns into something special. One of the most important tracks in the OST, Celes is easily one of the best songs created by Nobuo Uematsu.
5/5
23
Save Them - An action packed track to the max. Great blend of the main theme also.
4.5/5
24
The Decisive Battle - The boss battle theme is leagues ahead of the original battle theme in Final Fantasy VI as there's actually some excitement with this track. Overall not the best boss battle theme, but pretty close.
4/5
25
Metamorphosis - Another rendition of the main theme, but this is just horrible. It may fit the scene in the game perfectly, but for just listening this isn't very good.
