FFX-2 - New Possibilites
January 18th, 2003
The webmaster calls it "round-up crazy", I call if useful information. Final Fantasy gets hotter every single day, what with new information and a merger. Right now, there is even more information on well... just about everything. Alhana and Kayin have brought information of Squaresoft, Enix and the third Final Fantasy X-2 character, which you can read about futher down the main page. Right now...
Final Fantasy X-2

We all know that Yuna is the main star and that Tidus is nowehere to be seen, this has now changed, well except for the Yuna bit. In the Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix trailer we are shown several shots, one of which is Yuna and TIDUS running away from several soldiers. Strange as it may seem, Yuna is back in her white top and is no longer wearing the skimpy clothing. This can be considered to be a part of the story, or it could be considered as some kind of a flashback. As to the truth in that we will have to wait and see.
Lulu is back, and for those with the International version, we see that Lulu is pregnant from this picture of the two women talking. It seems Lulu has had her baby and is slimmer than she was in the first game. Maybe she was pregnant during her battles with Sin but then that is not very healthy for a baby. Her clothing and hair appear to be unchanged, but only time will tell us exactly what is in store.
Wakka is returning and he has lost his beer belly from the FFX International version. It makes a person wonder when this takes place, but Wakka's hair and clothing, plus his rather unshaven countenance and laidback attitude, appear to be unchanged since FFX. Digital diet? Or maybe it was him all along who was pregnant!
And here is some bad news for fans. Many fans were annoyed that Final Fantasy X didn't include a playable airship, just a point and click map system. I have bad news for you, FFX-2 has not rectified this situation, it is another airship screen and has two new modes: Story and Completion. It seems Square are very unwilling to bend to the pressure to return the flyable airship system.
So how many characters can be in a party? Looks like three again, but on this screen there is a big space between Yuna and Rikku, so there may be room for one more character in battle. It seems also that character tag team has gone, but has been replaced by Dress Up, which could explain Yuna's different dress code. Here's hoping the game is set in Real Time!
So what is the trailer about? A quick glance at Gamefaqs took my search to Kashinoda, which has a rough translation of the trailer.
1- 2 years later...
2- Another story begins.
Yuna: "It began when I saw a Sphere with somebody who looked like you."
Rikku: "That's him(/her?)... right?"
3- ?The visionary Sphere was the key?
4- Yuna undertakes another quest.
5- "Sin" is destroyed & the Yevon Church has fallen
6- Machina has been absorbed by the people of Spira like a sponge soaks up water...it's everywhere.
Paine: "Do you want to get it(/him/her?) back, or not?"
Paine: "I(/we/you?)'ve always been chasing the past, but..."
7- Even in this time of Calm, there is still conflict...
?: "A Sphere that relates the truth about Spira's history is hidden in the Kilika Temple. They're trying to hide the truth, just like the [Yevon] church did before them!"
8- Meet many new faces!
9- Discover the truth about Spira!
Yuna: "With "Sin" gone and the Calm upon us, (10*) I thought the peaceful days would last forever..."
10*- What will Yuna find on her journey?
Yuna: "My body... It's shivering."
Yuna: "The Eternal Calm... I felt like it was crumbling apart from beneath us..."
Rikku: "Ah!"
Rikku: "That Sphere with him... Wasn't it recorded here?"
Yuna: "It's linked... Everything is linked... I have that feeling..."
Rikku: "What?"
Paine(?): "What's that?"
Rikku: "It's an Aeon!"
Yuna: "Why?"
Yuna: "Stop!"
Paine: "Do you want to get killed?! We have no choice but to fight!"
Yuna: "Is it you? Or do you just look like him?"
So that is the scoop, an Aeon is back? Tidus? Spheres? Getting exciting! All that only took 27.5MB. Shocking.
