Square seem to be relying less and less on gameplay to sell their games these days...

It has been a couple of years after the events that happened in the FFX world of Spira. The characters have obviously gotten older and Rikku's new outfit showcases her... maturing body. All that can be said is that most of Spira must be pretty damn hot, because the only thing that's protecting her from the cold is the funky new scarf she's wearing.
This leads to even more controversy though. Not only is FFX getting a sequel - something that has never been done in Final Fantasy history - but two of its main characters have suddenly turned into sex objects. Making Yuna a Final Fantasy Lara Croft would be a good way to hide her identity, even if she has to flash a lot more skin. Being an artist myself, I can understand the fun that Tetsuya Nomura is obviously having with these new designs. The designs might not cover much of the body, but they are certainly very elegant and quite beautiful as well. Yuna and Rikku match the colorful surroundings of Spira very well, and it seems that Spira residents just have a thing for exotic threads.
Yuna's design has been known for a while though, and Rikku has only been exposed recently. Rikku was already rather bare in FFX and I don't think anyone will forget about her introduction FMV. In FFX-2, Rikku sports a whole new look that shows a lot more skin even than Yuna. The brown vest is gone and a yellow bikini top is there instead. Her shorts have now become a very short skirt it seems, and a very obvious thong seems to be under it. Her arms are covered with some cloth that’s tied into bows all along her arm, and makes for the most bizarre part of her new attire. The funky hair she had before is now longer and wilder with a lot more braided strands (feathers included). She also has a very long scarf that is pulled to the front rather then the back. Finally, Rikku has lost her gauntlet-type weapon and has taken up two fancy dagger-type weapons for FFX-2. It is an odd mix of ideas which is very unique and blatantly sexual at the same time. Get ready FFX fans, Rikku has grown up.

But other than our main heroines, some other designs have been released as well. There is a new blonde woman who seems to be a villain and likes to flash her cleavage a lot like Ultimecia did in FFVIII. Deducing from the artwork files I've saved, it seems her name is something like "Lebranc". She also has two cronies, since no villain is complete without them. Their names seem to be Sano and Uno with Sano being the slim character, and Uno being the fatter one. Lebranc wields a type of fan/claw weapon while Sano wields two Colt six-shooters - FFX-2 style of course. Uno shows no weapons, so maybe he'll use his fists and weight to fight with.
FFX-2 is getting more and more intriguing as Square drip feeds us with details. The designs are going to be very interesting to see in the finished product. And as if Square wasn't being generous enough with the artwork, they've also made three official wallpapers for Rikku's new look, which are provided above. I honestly don't know what to think about this game yet, but I know I'm getting very curious.
